We only had one student (Rob) who showed up for the taste of karate class. Since Rob is already an arnis student I decided to run the class as a normal class, but still hitting the main areas I had wanted to with more detail.
We started with the 10 exercises and went in to some basics. We worked on all of the basic blocks and vertical punch from horse stance with Thomas giving feeds with the pads. We did some partner pad work and spent the last part of the class on self defense scenarios. We mainly focused on the spear block and knees.
Though Rob was the only one to show up that was new, he did say that he intended to sign up for karate, and there was good energy in the room in general.

Adult Karate Class Report Monday 6-23-14 Sensei Angus Reid
Adult Karate Class Report 6-23-14

Had a good class on Monday with four enthusiastic folks on a very humid day. Warmed up with standing kicks and shadow sparring, then spent a good long while doing some 2-person padwork with kicking combos and entry into takedowns. Per class requests, we then did trapping hands & joint locks, with the higher level folks doing it freestyle, then put on gear for several rounds of sparring.

Saturday morning t'ai chi
We had a good group and good energy in the room. We started with the warm ups and meditation. We went in to some circling exercises in preparation for brush knee twist and then practiced brush knee up the room and repulse monkey back. We broke in to groups to work on the for or the dance, and ended in a round.
Thursday in class evaluation, 6/12/14 - Sensei Jeff
We had a very productive eval of Lana Deane testing for yellow belt. Colleen, Thomas, and myself were present to observe. Jack R., and Karen were also in class. We went through the standard basics, line work, SD, forms, and sparring. Lana did well, and was able to bring out a bit more intensity than we normally see from her in regular classes.

Wednesday night classes - 6/11/14
We had a good group of six for the tai chi class. We started off with the warm ups and did some partner work with relaxation drills. We went in to our meditation, moved on to some basic pushing and finished up working on the form.
There were four in the arnis class, as well as myself. We started with working on the forms and moved in to some basic stick control that led in to block check counter and then trapping hands.

Monday's attendance was larger than it has been, which motivated me to lead a lesson on ground self defense – specifically, kicking at an attacker from a prone position – that I had been saving for a while to do when there was more than just one or two students. Thomas and Mike did quite well with it; Karen had some trouble with the uncomfortableness of the exercise and her knees, so I gave her some modifications that got her to train the basic principle of the techniques. We did forms, with Simon helping Mike and Thomas helping Karen, and finished with stretching and freestyle trapping hands/joint locks.

Had another small class on Monday with myself, Ron, and Mike training together. We warmed up with slow sparring, did the 10 and stretches, then trained roundhouse kicks to the standing bags, and Mike made some good corrections in his body posture and standing foot alignment. I worked with him on his forms, then we did some trapping hands & joint locks.
