Adult karate class, 9/21/15 - Sensei Chaisson
We had 6 total for the class including myself with Ron and Lilly assisting. We started off with the 10 followed by some multi directional kicking drills. Ron, Lilly, Mike, and Cheri moved on to some trapping hands drills for a warm up while Jeff and I worked on his vertical punch, We moved in to some drills on the forms and ended up with some SD techniques. Great energy from all.
Adult karate class, 9/15/14 - Sensei Reid
Adult Karate Class Report 9-14-15
Angus Reid leading, 4 other students attending
Had a very useful class focusing on the backfist – introducing the technique to new student Jeff, and refining it for the purple belts and above. Jeff did well with the standing kicks I always start class with – good balance. We spent a while warming up shoulders and arms, and did the swaying hook-uppercut exercise. We practiced the backfist with the 1-2-3-4 count, emphasizing keeping the elbow in line as the punch extends out, then worked on putting it all onto one count with the fist moving first. This point became the challenge of the class, as everyone worked on eliminating extra movement in the shoulder or arm to avoid telegraphing the punch. We tried various drills with focus pads, including the 'move the pad' drill to really test the spontaneity of the puch, and finished up with a backfist-turning-backfist combo. Everyone showed good attention and observation of their own movements as they tried to refine the punch.

Youth Karate - Thursday, September 10th, 2015
One student on Thursday. We started off with some one and two strikes, then tried out some single sinawalli. Then we moved on to the first five movements of the locking series, and some belt-focused self defense techniques, which were the Ferrini's elbows.
We did a little trapping hands, working on switching from inside to outside, and then some single handed variations.
We ended with a little kata work. Very productive class.
