Monday night classes, 8/3/15 - Sensei Jeff

Phil, Rob, and myself were training today.  Due to having to cater to an angry calf muscle, I primarily had Phil working with Rob on a number of different drills needed for evaluating.  The majority of the class was spent on the 6 and 8 count drills as well as the flow drill.  Great work from Rob and direction from Phil.

Ron took the lead of the karate.  We had Cheri and Mike in class.  We started off with the 10 and went in a review of the forms.  From there we worked on various shuffling kicking drills.  The class was moving on to some bag work when I bowed out to get home and spend some time with my heating pad.  It was a very productive class and we were able to focus on a number of underlying basics in each phase of the class.

Saturday classes, 8/1/15 - Sensei Jeff

It was Phil, Mike, Cheri, and myself for the staff class.  We started off with some work on some stepping transitions in the bow stance.  I had meant to make a side note and a small drill for pushing with the 80/20 step, though we got so caught up in it that we spent the rest of the class on it.  Mike, Phil, and I were playing with the whole push.  With Cheri we were focusing mainly on the basics for the first 1/3 of the push.

We had a good sized group for the t'ai chi class.  We started with the normal set of warm ups as well as some meditation.  I opened up the class after that to work on either the form or the dance.  From there we continued on with the short cane form basics and finished with a run through the form.

Sensei took the lead on the first class, starting off with the 10, some laps around the room, and some partner stretching.  We then went in to some partner work, focusing on a palm block, wrist strike, and ending in a circular knife hand grab.

We started the second class off with the 10 and some quick floor stretches.  We started the class off with some SD partner work, focusing more around those who will be testing.  From there we went in to some haymaker defense drills while sensei and Dylan worked on the forms.  We finished with a timing insertion drill to get in to break the birdies wing from the previous haymaker drill.  Great work from all, though I did have to pull Luke off to the side and have a discussion about control, as he wasn't paying enough attention to what he was doing to actually control himself.
